Excerpt from the pink slip and note left on Jon Garland’s locker today:

We prefer to do our firings in the city to which we are trading our player.  We find there is less chance of an incident.  If he can start against in that series and potentially beat us -- all the better.

Excuse me, Jon.  Mr. Garland.  I know you were scheduled to pitch against the Dodgers on Thursday but we’re gonna need you to pick up your shit go over to their dugout.  Thanks.  Oh, and by the way, if it’s not too much trouble, please don’t beat us on Thursday.  Thanks again.

P.S. Coming back in the deal for Garland is the ever-popular “player-to-be-named later.”  I am sure he/she/it will be a great contributor on the 2010 D-backs’ roster.
