Football Kitty

We’re coming at you a day early due to the fact that Missouri and Nebraska are playing tonight and we don’t want you to think that the SoD Football Pick ‘Em is anything less that completely legit.  A few other housekeeping notes:

  • I’m ordering the picks by where we are in the standings this week.  I’ll be carrying this through.
  • No line was posted for Jaguars-Seahawks.
  • Bodog didn’t have a Wednesday night line for Florida-LSU so I found it on ESPN.com
  • Due to the fact that the Vikings-Rams game was only 10 points (10 fucking points!) – we banned it this week.

After a great week for Zim things are really tightening up in the contest – only 4 games separate first and last place.  Everyone will be going by the normal rules this week as each of our college teams is in action and the Cardinals are back from their bye week.  The plot thickens…
Louie Renown Picks: (2-3 last week, 12-8 overall)

Patriots @ Broncos (Patriots -3.5) : PATRIOTS - The house of cards is falling in Denver.  Sorry Bronco fans, it was a good run.

Your 2009 Denver Broncos

Your 2009 Denver Broncos

Colts @ Titans (Colts -4) : COLTS – This team is rocking and rolling right now.  I predict a third consecutive beat down followed by Zim’s man-crush VY being inserted in to the offense for good.

Texans @ Cardinals (Cardinals -5.5) : TEXANS – Can I wait to make this pick until I find out if Whiz is going to double-team Mario Williams?  If it’s Gandy v. Williams I want the Texans.

Florida @ LSU (Florida -7.5) : LSU - I am picking the Tigers to keep it close and praying that the Son of God doesn’t return until next Saturday.

Arizona State @ Washington State (ASU -21) : ARIZONA STATE – Having to pick ASU games every week is going to be my downfall in this competition.

Dr. Greenbaumberg Picks : (4-1 last week, 12-8 overall)

Patriots @ Broncos (Patriots -3.5) : PATRIOTS – Faker Broncos, shaky QB, Master v. Pupil.

Colts @ Titans (Colts -4) : COLTS – So, week 5 is where I’m supposed to believe the Titans figure it out? Or is it when VY enters the game?  The Titans D is run by a guy with no experience – somehow, I don’t see it shutting down Mask.

Texans @ Cardinals (Cardinals-5.5) : CARDINALS - Just because they’re the hometown team.

Florida @ LSU (Florida -7.5) : FLORIDA – I just don’t think LSU’s offense is dynamic enough to hang with Florida, even if they go w/o Hayseus, Jr. himself.

Arizona @ Washington (Arizona -3) : WASHINGTON – What a bunch of BS.  If you believe in U of A football, I’ve got some property down here in AZ I’d like to sell you.
Scott Howard Picks: (3-2 last week, 10-10 overall)

Falcons @ 49ers (Niners -2.5) : FALCONS – Are the bookmakers really buying into the Niners this much?  Yes they HAMMERED the Rams, but they didn’t look good doing it and they still don’t have Frank Gore.  Let’s not make them a favorite over a strong playoff team yet.

Colts @ Titans (Colts -4) : COLTS - The Titans are going to pack it in for the season.  Let’s just call Indy “Allied Van Lines” for the rest of the weekend.  Looking forward to seeing VY fall all over himself.  Maybe he will cry on the sideline again!

Texans @ Cardinals (Cardinals -5.5) : TEXANS – Between the fact that I’m a huge fan of the emotional hedge and that I have a bad feeling about this game…the Texans are probably going to win.  Repeat after me – BLOCKING BACK (or Beanie Wells, your call really).

Florida @ LSU (Florida -7.5) : LSU – I think Tebow will play but not be his normal makes you a better person just for meeting him self.  Not sure if LSU wins but they should be able to hang.

Kansas State @ Texas Tech (Texas Tech -16) : KANSAS STATE - Tech QB Taylor Potts might not play in this game – I think this is the only reason we could even hope to hang here.  Texas Tech isn’t that great but they certainly aren’t Iowa State.  Want to see what happened the last time Bill Snyder coached in Lubbock?

I’m pretty sure K-State lost that game by roughly 4 million points. Enjoy this rare glimpse at S. Howard optimism.

E. Honda Picks: (2-3 last week, 9-11 overall)

Falcons @ 49ers (Niners -2.5) : FALCONS - The Niners have been donkey-punching weak teams so far.  Atlanta is not weak (Editors Note: Ukraine also not weak).

Colts @ Titans (Colts -4) : COLTS - I don’t read “news” but this line is low enough to make me suspect an injury that I don’t know about.  Unfortunately the SoD Cup has banned research.

Texans @ Cardinals (Cardinals -5.5)TEXANS - My sense of honor, duty, and self-respect does not apply to the Cardinals.  One week of practice does not an o-line make.

Florida @ LSU (Florida -7.5) : LSU - The Younger Son of God will not play after a smarter relative reminds him that he has a pro clipboard-holding career at stake.

Nebraska @ Missouri (Nebraska -3.5) : MISSOURI- This game is ripe for the emotional hedge because I think it will be a blowout either way.  However, unlike my co-contributors, I have a sense of honor, duty, and self respect.  I will not forsake my Tigers.  Stay tuned for me giving all of that up.

Two-Thirds of the E. Honda Creed...Country Would Be Japan Though

Career Sgt. Zim Picks: (4-1 last week, 8-12 overall)

Patriots @ Broncos (Patriots -3.5) : PATRIOTS - The Broncos fairy tale ends here. The Pats may be older than dirt but they will do what it takes to win, a la Eddie Harris.

All It Takes is One More Injury to the Linebacking Core

All It Takes is One More Injury to the Linebacking Core

Colts @ Titans (Colts -4) : COLTS – Chris Chandler and Ernest Givens will not be able to get Houston into the win column this week.  Johnny U is just too good.  You know what else is good?  The Ford Edsell – that is one class ride.

Texans @ Cardinals (Cardinals -5.5) : CARDINALS – At home, coming off of a bye week.  Father Time should have his stubble and his accuracy back.  If not…does anyone know a good 12 step program?

Florida @ LSU (Florida -7.5) : LSU - I think Tebow will play but LSU at home is tough to beat by more than a TD.  The Mad Hatter keeps it close but still loses to Urban Meyer and Tebow.  (Editors Note:  Zim basically asked to be knighted for his bravery in making this pick.  Then when I revealed to him several others had made it he eagerly defended what made it so bold.  I was all very confusing…and sexy.  Which is also confusing.)

Colorado @ Texas (Texas -32) : TEXAS - The Buffaloes are bad, real bad.  We have to be able to cover here…right?

Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you’re not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.
