Opinons and What-Not

I’ve missed an awful lot of interesting stuff this week while working at the job that “pays me” so what better to catch up than just some good ol’ fashioned random thoughts and minor commentary. I’m a big fan of Pete Carroll to the Seahawks…as a Cardinals fan.  People can put all the spin they [...]

Night Links

I’m in a bit of a bad mood this evening so there won’t be a whole lot of focus to these links – just anger.  Pure and blind anger. Young steps back in as Titans QB -  This was a foregone conclusion as Tennessee is not only 0-6 but even their owner thought it was [...]

Periodic Links

I realize I don’t post links quite enough for them to be called “daily” – thus here are some periodic links. Revolving door continues at left tackle for Seahawks – if the Cards can’t get a sack now that Seattle is on their 3rd and 4th string left tackle then they might never get one [...]

Welcome back to my new favorite SoD column – the WFotW (I’m trying to get the acronym to catch on).  This is Week 2 in my weekly column honoring a person who is entirely incompetent at their job but has yet to discover that fact.  Jack Del Rio was our first winner and he went [...]

SoD Cup – Baseball Picks

Fall is upon us, the heat is receding from the valley and of course the SoD cup rolls on as your attention ratchets up – don’t try and play coy, we can tell. To spice things up we decided to try picking baseball, a sport whose major league is clearly foreign to Arizona. Scott Howard is out of pocket attending [...]

I suppose the third time really was a charm for the Minnesota Twins.  Following losses in their first two playoff tiebreakers they finally broke through and defeated the Tigers 6-5 in 12 innings to advance to the AL playoffs and win their 5th division title since 2002. Wait…you’re saying you remember the 2008 playoff tiebreaker [...]

I’m sure many of you received a similar call this week – but according to Martha Lee she was called earlier in the day by the Diamondbacks who had a simple question for her: What brought you out to the games this year? Now we here at SoD are nothing if not incredibly helpful so [...]

Beware the Long Balls Dipped in Sauce

If only Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera were a D-Back, he would be ascended to SoD Banner Graphic Status after his performance this weekend.  Apparently, Cabrera was totally crushed and required retrieval from the police station just 12 hours before going 0-4 and stranding six runners in a potentially division-clinching game against the Twins.  Cabrera reportedly [...]

To recap, arguably the greatest baseball hitter of all time, Ted Williams, requested that he be cryogenically frozen at or near his death, so that if the Fountain of Youth or a cure for knuckleball were ever discovered, he could be magically revived and healed, and continue living out his 80s.  His family was notoriously divided [...]

56; 755; 61; .406; 2,130. These are the numbers that define the history of major league baseball. Most have fallen in the last 15 years. Some legitimately, most under a cloud of suspicion. Last night another majestic number fell — 204. Having stood for eons (less than 360 days) it is yet another symbol of [...]
