Hey there reader.  I feel like we’ve got to know each other pretty well over the past 10 months – I write poorly about things that interest me and you don’t read them.  We have a great relationship.  What you may also have noticed is that the majority of my works of art tend towards [...]

Welcome back to my new favorite SoD column – the WFotW (I’m trying to get the acronym to catch on).  This is Week 2 in my weekly column honoring a person who is entirely incompetent at their job but has yet to discover that fact.  Jack Del Rio was our first winner and he went [...]

I suppose the third time really was a charm for the Minnesota Twins.  Following losses in their first two playoff tiebreakers they finally broke through and defeated the Tigers 6-5 in 12 innings to advance to the AL playoffs and win their 5th division title since 2002.

56; 755; 61; .406; 2,130. These are the numbers that define the history of major league baseball. Most have fallen in the last 15 years. Some legitimately, most under a cloud of suspicion. After enduring a season so painful to watch that it deserved the Old Yeller treatment – Chris Young is on his way to the Biggest Little City in the World.  Just two seasons after showing incredible promise and upside during a 32 homer – 27 stolen base season, Young has hit just .194 with a [...]

In proof that the Diamondbacks season may actually be cursed, Justin Upton was placed on the DL after straining his right oblique in the 9th inning of yesterday’s win over the Brothers of Smee.  Upton hopes to miss only the minimum 2 weeks with the injury but he managed to miss 43 games last season [...]

In Appreciation of Ichiro

I have more than an above-average knowledge of the game of baseball.  I was raised on the history – between writing my first book reports on Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb biographies and forcing my family to listen to the audio tape version of Ken Burns’ Baseball on road trips I feel I have a [...]

For some reason I’ve been completely unable to get Lou Bega’s smash 90’s hit Mambo Number 5 out of my mind today – thus the very topical story headline – but I’ve found a way to stretch this into something relating to the D-Backs.
Following Wednesday’s 4-3 win over the Pirates, the Snakes have won 4 [...]
